Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has described facing Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side of the mid-2000s as "suffocating" to play against.
Mourinho led the Blues to back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004/05 and 2005/06 after coming to Chelsea from Porto, with the Portuguese boss enjoying a great start to life in England.
But former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has described the Arsenal Invincibles side under Arsene Wenger as the best team he has faced in the Premier League.
However, Neville disagreed with his fellow Sky Sports pundit, who spoke of how difficult he found it facing the Arsenal Invincibles side led by Arsene Wenger.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I feel the complete opposite. Playing against that Chelsea team of the mid-2000’s, it was suffocating.
"It was so difficult, you couldn’t play your football, you were starved of everything you wanted, it was an awful experience.
“We always used to feel that when we played against Arsenal, they’d give you a chance.
"We had good success against them, we beat them in semi-finals of cups sometimes, we had success against them in the league.
"I never feared them, I knew it was going to be difficult game, I knew they were a great side with great players, but because they gave you a chance, you could compete against them.
“I never felt that the Chelsea side, in that first two years, gave you a chance. It reminded me of the Juventus team we played against in the mid-90s, an unbelievable team, and a little bit like the Liverpool team under Rafael Benitez and Gerard Houllier, we found it difficult against that type of team rather than the expansive teams.”
