Gary Neville criticises David de Gea for Tottenham goal vs Manchester United

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville criticised David De Gea following Tottenham's opening goal in the Premier League meeting on Friday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side travelled to North London for their first match in over three months after the suspension to the season in what marks an important game in the battle for Champions League football.

However, things didn't go to plan for United in the first half as Steven Bergwijn opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho's side against his former employers.

Bergwijn's pace caused problems for the defence and his effort was disappointingly palmed into the net by De Gea, who attracted criticism from Neville.

“I think David de Gea will be extremely disappointed. He’s got to save that. Bergwijn does really well, he’s got Harry Maguire, he’s got the legs on him - he goes past him really easily," he said on Sky Sports' commentary.

“That shot’s really close to David de Gea. That’s poor from the goalkeeper, really poor.

“It’s fine margins, [Hugo] Lloris made a save at one end on Marcus Rashford, and David de Gea spilled one at the other.”
