Gary Neville calls Arsenal penalty decision a "disgrace" against Norwich

Gary Neville branded the decision to allow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyank to re-take a penalty a "disgrace" during Arsenal's clash with Norwich.

The Gunners were awarded a spot-kick when defender Christoph Zimmermann was penalised for handball.

Tim Krul saved Aubameyang's initial spot-kick, but the Arsenal skipper made no mistake after VAR intervened to order a retake for encroachment.

Sky Sports pundit Neville took to social media to slam the decision by officials.

He tweeted: "That's a disgrace!"

Gary Lineker added: "Encroachment has never been a thing. Now it’s a thing. It’s become a thing because of VAR. Things ain’t what they used to be."

The decision infuriated keeper Krul and his Norwich team-mates.

"I saved the first penalty so it was frustrating that it had to be re-taken," said the Dutchman.

"After they scored I just said to Ozil: 'you are lucky' because the referee helped them a lot there."

Aubameyang's effort hauled the visitors level after Teemu Pukki had fired Norwich in front with a 21st-minute effort that took a big deflection off Shkodran Mustafi.

However, they regained the lead on the stroke of half time through Todd Cantwell.

Aubameyang struck again after the break to rescue a point for the Gunners.
