Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher predict who will win the title - and disagree

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have offered their game-by-game predictions on how the Premier League title race will unfold - and they disagree on the outcome.

The Sky Sports pundits broke down each of Liverpool and Manchester City's remaining fixtures on Monday Night Football ahead of Chelsea's clash with West Ham .

And although both expect just one point separate the two title challengers, they have gone for opposite outcomes.

Liverpool legend Carragher has predictably opted for his former club to lift their first title in 29 years despite dropping points at Newcastle in their penultimate game.

Manchester United great Neville, meanwhile, believes their local rivals City will defend their crown as both sides drop points with two draws between now and the rest of the season.

It was a particularly tough prediction for Neville with both of United's arch rivals battling for the crown.

Pep Guardiola echoes Jose Mourinho with Community Shield declaration

"I'm not smiling, I've got nothing to smile about here!" Neville declared.

"I don't think both teams will be perfect towards the end of the season.

"With the Champions League thrown in I just don't think it will happen.

"To be honest with you, I'm not sure about that in any way, shape or form, I honestly am not."

Jurgen Klopp insists "on-fire" Liverpool players ready to write perfect ending

Carragher, meanwhile, reckons former manager Rafa Benitez could come back to haunt the Reds with his Newcastle side.

"There's two reasons, really," he explained.

"I think Liverpool will get to the Champions League semi-final, and I think the Newcastle game will be in between two games against either Barcelona or two games against Manchester United.

"So I don't think it'll be an easy game, and Rafa Benitez as a manager, the way he sets up, he'll make it difficult for Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling reacts to Danny Rose admitting racism makes him want to quit football

"People might say, 'oh, he's an ex-Liverpool manager, he'd like to see Liverpool win the league', he might, I don't know, but I'm not sure really.

"If he'd won the league himself he might say, 'OK, you can win one', but I don't think he'll want Jurgen doing something he hasn't done, maybe.

"I don't think there'll be any favours, and I think the way Rafa sets up tactically, he could go five at the back, and it will be difficult for Liverpool to play."
