Gary Neville has admitted he made a mistake by playing Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno on the wing at Valencia.
Neville’s only managerial job, to date, was being the boss at the La Liga side - where he spent less than four months.
Rodrigo signed for Valencia for a big-money fee in the summer of 2015, with Neville taking over in early December.
Now, five years on, the Spanish striker is playing his football at Elland Road after leaving the Mestalla Stadium earlier in the summer.
The 29-year-old scored his first Leeds goal in the 1-1 draw with Manchester City, earning his new side a deserved point.
Rodrigo could have had another as well, but his headed effort smashed the crossbar after a stunning save from Ederson.
Neville, who was on commentary duties for Sky Sports’ coverage of the game, told a story about how he played Rodrigo out of position during his time in charge at Valencia.
"We had Paco Alcacer, who went to Barcelona, so he was playing up front, and (Alvaro) Negredo was there, so I was playing him (Rodrigo) off the right-hand side,” the former Manchester United defender said.
"He much preferred to be a striker and I think maybe one or two managers after I left, they started to play him up front and he started to get confident and score goals.
"He was getting a tough time when I was there from the fans because he'd been bought for £30million.
"A lot of pressure was on him but he really started to do well."
Then, when Rodrigo had a header tipped on to the bar moments later, Neville said: “That’s where I should have played him - not on the right-wing!”
