Former club captain Gary Neville has admitted that he has "lost faith" with the Glazer family and their overall running of Manchester United.
Neville made the admission following the sacking of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, which has left United looking for their fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in the summer of 2013.
The club have placed Michael Carrick in temporary charge and look set to appoint an interim manager on a basis until the end of the season — before looking to source a permanent replacement for Solskjaer next summer.
Sourcing a new manager is not the only task that United's hierarchy will have to conclude next year, as they will also have to find a replacement for Ed Woodward, with the chief executive leaving the club in 2022.
And while Neville has welcomed United's decision to hold-off in their decision to appoint Solskjaer's long-term replacement, he has criticised the Glazer family for the way they continue to run the club, emphasising the extent of their disconnection with the club.
"Ed Woodward is leaving, they are going to have to appoint a new CEO, and that CEO has got to make sure they have got the right people operating the football side of the club," Neville told Sky Sports. "That's it, the first job.
"It may be Richard Arnold, who has worked with Ed over the last ten years, and he's got to distance himself from what's happened in the last eight years, put his own footprint on it and make sure that he doesn't become someone who takes over what's already been happening, he's got to assess everything that is going on at the club.
"I think they are making sure the right football people are in there, and they can then get the right manager at the end of the season. If he does come in, Richard Arnold has to assess that very quickly.
"I've lost faith in the owners being able to do it, they are over in America and are so distant and disconnected with the football club it is untrue."
