Gary McAllister reveals Rangers relief as assistant makes Ibrox atmosphere prediction

Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister reckons the lift provided by today's 1-0 Scottish Premiership win at Ross County will mean Ibrox will be rocking for Leverkusen on Thursday night.

Ryan Kent 's deflected winner took all three points in the Highlands and Rangers would have taken any win to start the week brightly after being dumped out the Scottish Cup by Hearts and a home league loss to Hamilton.

The win wasn't pretty but McAllister now believes it allows the Govan side to focus on the huge Europa League last-16 showdown at Ibrox.

Speaking to RangersTV , he said: "It's a big victory. It gives us a wee jolt of confidence, which has been a bit low which is to be expected.

"It's a great week to be a Rangers player, I feel. It's a challenge we're most definitely looking forward to.

"We've proven that we can stand toe-to-toe with some good teams. We should used that as a confidence boost.

"The games are fantastic. Ibrox will be jumping and the atmosphere will be fantastic.

"And there is quite a bit of competition for places. It's hotting up."

McAllister also saluted the fans for making the trek up to Dingwall in their thousands ahead of a brutal noon kick-off.

He added: "It's four and a half hours coming up from Glasgow and we have some that come up from further south.

"We can't fault the fans, their support has always been there.

"It's special when they jump in a car for a 12 o'clock kick-off - hats off to them."
