Gary McAllister raves about 'sublime' Defoe strike as he reflects on week of special Rangers goals

Gary McAllister says Jermain Defoe's strike against Livingston was "right out of the top drawer" as the Ibrox assistant manager reflects on a week of special Rangers goals.

Defoe scored a sublime left-footed volley to put the league leaders two ahead following Joe Aribo's early goal.

McAllister loved what he saw from the veteran striker, and reckons the goal is typical of the frontman's quality.

He told Rangers TV : "I just loved the movement. Jermain, since arriving here, we've always seen the quality. When we get him on the pitch, and he's playing games, he looks very dangerous.

"He's been a classy player throughout his career in my view and I thought that was very typical of him today.

"The movement, the pass was superb, but the finish was sublime."

Rangers won the match 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points.

Reflecting on a week of brilliant goals, following Kemar Roofe's Standard Liege 55-yarder, McAllister added: "We've seen two very high calibre, high quality goals. Obviously Jermain today and Roofe the other night. They are right out the top drawer.

"The deliver from James Tavernier to pick out Defoe's movement, which was superb, was really pleasing to see.

"It's just a positive run going into the home game in the week."
