Gary Lineker weighs in on penalty debate following Leeds United's play-off win at Derby

Gary Lineker has weighed in on the debate surrounding Craig Pawson's decision to reverse the penalty he awarded to Derby County in their clash against Leeds United.

Despite pointing to the spot when Jack Harrison was adjudged to have brought down Jayden Bogle inside the box, the experienced official reversed his decision and instead awarded a free-kick to Marcelo Bielsa's side following a conversation with his linesman.

The decision was greeted with cheers from Whites fans inside Pride Park, while Derby's players were left with their head in their hands following the call.

And the former England forward believes it was a huge call for Pawson to reverse his decision and side with his linesman.

He tweeted: "Big call from the linesman to persuade the referee to overturn his original decision of a penalty to @dcfcofficial."

The Whites will take a 1-0 lead into Wednesday's second-leg at Elland Road, after Kemar Roofe's 15th goal of the season was the difference between the two sides in the Midlands.
