Gary Lineker uses Prince Harry and Meghan Markle news to make Liverpool title statement

Gary Lineker reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to no longer use their HRH titles with a Premier League title reference.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the announcement about their decision to drop their HRH titles and pay back Frogmore Cottage money on Saturday evening.

In the Premier League earlier in the day, champions Manchester City dropped more points as they drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace at the Etihad.

The draw means Liverpool remain 13 points clear at the top and can extend that lead to 16, if they beat Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds are now in pole position to win their first Premier League title and Lineker used the breaking news from Buckingham Palace in reference.

The Match of the Day presenter tweeted: "The Palace have announced Meghan & Harry have renounced their titles.

"Meanwhile Palace have announced Man City have renounced theirs."

Manchester City fell behind at the Etihad as Everton loanee Cenk Tosun headed in his first goal for Palace.

Sergio Aguero scored twice in quick succession with City seemingly set for three points.

But Fernandinho turned Wilfried Zaha's cross into his own net as Roy Hodgson's side claimed a point.

Speaking at full-time, Pep Guardiola said: "We have to still try to continue.

The season still has a lot of games to play, and you have to try to secure the place for the Champions League next season.

"Now we recover for two or three days, go to Sheffield [United], play there and after the FA Cup, semi-final of the Carabao again, so we try to secure that position."
