Gary Lineker uses Leeds United to join in with Royal Family debate

Gary Lineker has playfully tied Leeds United's defeat to West Ham United with the royal family.

The Whites fell to a 2-0 defeat at the London Stadium on Monday night, with two first-half goals causing the damage.

Tyler Roberts had a controversial opener ruled out, with Helder Costa adjudged offside by a knee cap in the build-up, before Luke Ayling upended Jesse Lingard and the Manchester United loanee opened the scoring.

Craig Dawson compounded Leeds' set-piece misery by heading in a second for the Hammers just before the half-hour mark, leaving Leeds with an uphull task to end their wretched run of form in London under Marcelo Bielsa.

Away from the drama at the London Stadium, Lineker was playfully keeping his tweets topical after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had dominated the UK press throughout Monday with a revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey.

As a result of the widespread media attention, Lineker joined in on the action with a couple of lightly hearted jokes as the action unfolded.

He wrote: "Think it’s outrageous of Harry and Meghan to do an interview that’s transmitted at such a delicate time. Surely they could have waited for the Leeds West Ham game to finish."

Another said: "This is much more hard-hitting than I thought it would be. Lots of tough questions being asked, but they’re standing their ground and their defence seems reasonable to me. Long way to go, of course, but I think the Hammers have got this."
