Gary Lineker swaying towards changing Arsenal Premier League title prediction after seven games

Prediction: Gary Lineker - (YouTube/HaytersTV)

Gary Lineker says he is tempted to change his Premier League title race prediction after just seven games of the campaign.

Arsenal have gone into the international break leading the way after capitalising on a surprise dip in form by reigning champions Liverpool over the past fortnight.

Arne Slot’s side had started the season in blistering form, boasting a perfect winning record in the league after five games on the back of smashing the British transfer record twice in the summer.

However, despite the signings of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, the Reds have yet to fully convince in any game so far and have now lost successive league games against Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

Before the season started, Lineker tipped Liverpool to retain their crown, but the former striker says he is now swaying towards the Gunners.

"I thought Liverpool at the start of the season, and now, I am swaying towards Arsenal,” he said when speaking at the Legends of Football event.

"I think it will be one of them."

Meanwhile, Alan Shearer is still backing Liverpool to win the league - for now.

“I said Liverpool, and there has only been seven or eight games,” the Newcastle legend added.

"Ask me after 12 games, and I might change my mind and say Arsenal."

Arsenal face London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage in their first game back after the international break a week on Saturday, knowing a win will move them four points clear of Liverpool.

The Merseyside giants, who have lost three games in a row across all competitions, then welcome Manchester United to Anfield the following day as they aim to get back on track.
