Gary Lineker sums up Liverpool midfielder James Milner in two words

Gary Lineker has summed up Liverpool's versatile veteran James Milner in two words, which really cannot be argued with.

Milner starred for the Reds in their 3-0 win over Leicester City at Anfield - playing a huge role in the crucial three points by picking up two assists.

The 34-year-old started the game at right-back following Trent Alexander-Arnold 's injury in Jurgen Klopp 's side's 1-1 draw with Manchester City before the international break.

Jurgen Klopp went with Milner on the right side of a back four, and in typical style - that's not where he ended the game.

Naby Keita picked up an injury and was forced off, meaning the former Manchester City man moved into midfield with Neco Williams slotting in at right-back.

As well as the position change, Milner provided two assists for the impressive win under the floodlights at Anfield on Sunday evening.

The Englishman whipped a fine cross which caused confusion in the Foxes defence, only for it to be headed into his own net by former Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans.

He then repeated his heroics with another great delivery to find Roberto Firmino, who headed past Kasper Schmeichel.

Lineker, when asked on Twitter what he thought about Milner, tweeted this...

It was a typical energetic performance for Milner - who once again proved he could be relied on when called upon, despite not being a regular starter under Klopp in the past couple of seasons.

Following Milner's assist, the home side then kicked on. Andy Robertson picked the ball up on the left-hand side and picked out a fine cross to find Diogo Jota, who continued his fine form in front of goal with a fantastic header.

Firmino then scored with just under five minutes of the match remaining, with a great header to wrap up the points.

Liverpool were in control for the majority of the match, despite some spells of Leicester pressure.
