Gary Lineker has reiterated why "brilliant" Trent Alexander-Arnold must play for England after his "bizarre" snub in the last international break.
The Liverpool defender was a high-profile absentee from the Three Lions squad in their recent tripleheader, with Gareth Southgate preferring Kyle Walker, Reece James and Kieran Trippier.
Southgate pinpointed Alexander-Arnold's dip in form as the main reason behind his decision to omit the 22-year-old.
Lineker voiced his bemusement at the decision a fortnight ago, writing on Twitter: “Agreed. Somewhat bewildered by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s omission.”
The Liverpool right-back responded in the perfect fashion with a devastating cross for the Reds' opener away at Arsenal, which allowed Diogo Jota to head home the opener.
Mohamed Salah added a second for Liverpool to give them the breathing room their dominant display had deserved at the Emirates Stadium before Jota doubled his tally by adding a third.
Alexander-Arnold's devilish delivery prompted Lineker to double down on the recent England snub, insisting he can't be left behind ahead of the summer's European Championships.
He wrote: "The perfect response from @TrentAA to his bizarre omission from the @England squad. He’s been brilliant tonight.
"Can’t be left at home in the summer. Just can't be."
Lineker had weighed in with his views earlier in the day too: "Spot on from Klopp about @TrentAA,' Lineker wrote on Twitter.
"Of course he'll be in the squad. So too will Jack Grealish. They simply have to be."
