Former England striker Gary Lineker was highly critical of the usage of VAR in the Premier League match between Spurs and Everton.
Two penalty incidents were reviewed by VAR during the 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, but on each occasion the on-field decision was upheld despite long delays.
Son Heung-min was the first player to be denied a penalty after he dragged the ball back under a challenge from Yerry Mina. The attacker's foot appeared to get caught underneath the Everton defender, though a slightly delayed reaction looked to be the reason behind the on-field decision going against him.
After multiple minutes of checks, the officials stayed with the decision from Martin Atkinson in deciding against a penalty.
And Everton later had a outcome when claiming for a penalty against Dele Alli.
The midfielder went up to challenge a header against Mina from an Everton corner, but appeared to get an elbow in the back of his neck - something the midfielder confirmed after the game.
Alli's arm then raised, and Mina's attempted header at goal looked to deflect off of Alli's arm.
However, after a long delay, no penalty was awarded to the hosts, leading to frustration from the Match of the Day pundit.
Lineker, who represented both teams during his career, criticised the way VAR is being used, stating that referees "couldn't be getting it more wrong than they currently are".
