Gary Lineker says he's still in 'decent enough shape' as he approaches 60th birthday

Gary Lineker has opened up about turning 60 this year – saying that he is “coming towards old age” but still in “decent enough shape”.

The Match of the Day star hits the milestone in November but is trying to stay as fit as possible,

He said: “ I’m still working out hard. But things do change. My fingers are a bit arthritic. My eyesight’s fading fast, I wear glasses a lot more. I’m going a bit grey. Well, very grey. But generally I’ve been lucky, I’ve managed to maintain decent health.”

In an interview with Event Magazine, he added: “I want to say it doesn’t bother me… but 60 does sound a big number.

Lineker, who divorced second wife Danielle Bux four years ago, also said he is not on the lookout for love but has “the odd date” (PA)

I figure I’ve not got that long being able to massively enjoy life. We’ll see.”

Lineker, who divorced second wife Danielle Bux four years ago, also said he is not on the lookout for love but has “the odd date”.

Yesterday he appeared on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show where he said it was unfair to pick on footballers amid the coronavirus crisis.

He added: “They’ve always been easy game in many ways.

“Nobody seems to talk about the bankers, CEOs, huge millionaires. Are they standing up?”
