Paulo Dybala to Tottenham Hotspur is a transfer rumour which is getting many connected to the club very excited.
But one Spurs legend has always lacked optimism that a €70m deal would get done by 5pm today.
Developments over night were pointing towards the Lilywhites smashing their transfer record for the second time this summer with the signing of the Juventus and Argentina striker.
The BBC reported that an agreement for Dybala to join the north London was 'very close'.
And the 25-year-old might not be the only piece of business that Spurs get done on deadline day as they've also been linked with moves for Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.
That trio of signings would certainly bolster the squad ahead of the new season and give Mauricio Pochettino a much needed boost as he looks to mount a Premier League title challenge.
But the question was could he get all three players?
One person who didn't believe Dybala was to join was ex-Spurs striker Gary Lineker who took to social media to deliver his verdict on the club's transfer deadline day prospects.
"Here’s a wild guess: Dybala won’t happen" Lineker tweeted.
Now the latest is that a deal for Dybala is off.
This is as per the BBC who claim Juventus have ultimately decided not to sell the forward.
So Lineker's hunch was spot on after all.
