Gary Lineker's perfect summary of Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold's performances

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold was singled out for praise by Gary Lineker after another impressive performance.

The full-back was England's standout player in their clash against Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off final.

One of the rising stars of the Reds' memorable campaign, which concluded with the boyhood Red helping his side to their sixth European Cup with victory over Spurs in Madrid, Alexander-Arnold continued his impressive form for his national side in Portugal.

The 20-year-old produced the most crosses in a single game for the Three Lions, beating David Beckham's 10-year record, and speaking mid-game Sky Sports' Gary Neville said : "Walker has had an outstanding season and done well for England, but Alexander-Arnold cannot be ignored. Sterling and Alli should both have scored from his deliveries.”

And it wasn't just Neville who was impressed with the youngster, with former England captain Lineker taking to Twitter to continue the well-earned praise.

He Tweeted: "Every time I see @trentaa98 play he’s pretty much the best player on the pitch. Same again today, by a distance. What a thrilling talent."

Gareth Southgate's side claimed a penalty shootout victory over the Swiss in Guimaraes, after the game finished 0-0.
