Gary Lineker's four-word description of Arsenal starlet Matteo Guendouzi after France call-up

Gary Lineker has hailed Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi after he received his first call-up to the France senior team.

The Gunners midfield dynamo has replaced Paul Pogba in the squad, who is reported to have a "ankle problem".

The Manchester United midfielder is one of several big names to miss out through injury, allowing the 20-year-old Arsenal midfielder to be named in the France senior squad for the first time.

The former Lorient player could make his national team debut in the upcoming qualifiers at home against Albania and away at Andorra on September 7 and 10.

Guendouzi, who has played 52 times in all competitions for Arsenal since signing last summer, is called up from Sylvain Ripoll's U21 side, where he has made nine appearances.

The Frenchman put in a star performance against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, providing a delightful assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to equalise in the north London derby.

That defence-splitting pass, along with 90 minutes of midfield dominance earned him huge plaudits, to add to his ever-growing reputation.

Now, Match of the Day presenter Lineker has joined the Guendouzi fan club after waxing lyrical about him on social media

Writing on his Twitter account, the former Leicester City striker wrote: "Unsurprising. Enormously talented young footballer."
