Gary Lineker reveals gruesome injury after burning himself in the kitchen

Gary Lineker has revealed he has suffered a gruesome kitchen injury suffered after burning himself whilst cooking.

Lineker took to social media to share a picture of his horrifically blistered fingers after the incident.

Three of his fingers were badly affected by the burns, with significant swelling which looked extremely painful.

"Must remember in future that when cooking, it’s best and certainly less painful, not to cook myself," Lineker joked.

He received plenty of sympathy from fans sharing similar experiences and remarking on how bad his hand looked after being burnt.

He was advised to resist the urge to pop the blisters to enable them to fully recover, although one fan asked if he could "film himself popping them".

Others simply asked "how on earth did you manage that?" with followers left wondering how his kitchen mishap occured.

Former England striker Lineker recently slammed fans of the national team as "embarrassing" for their treatment of Virgil van Dijk after the Liverpool defender was booed as he played for the Netherlands in midweek.

The BBC Sport and BT Sport pundit is currently enjoying some down time after the end of the Premier League season having not been included in coverage of the Women's World Cup.

But it seems spending his free time cooking might not be advisable after his painful kitchen accident.
