Gary Lineker reacts to VAR madness during Tottenham's loss against Leicester City

Former Leicester City and Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has hit out at the VAR decision which cost Spurs and helped the Foxes on their way to a 2-1 victory this afternoon.

VAR was consulted over several different decisions during the contest but the most important was the call to disallow Serge Aurier's effort which would have made it 2-0 in the second half.

Harry Kane had given Spurs a lead in the first half and Aurier seemed to have found himself a rare goal, only for VAR to be consulted and the goal to be disallowed after Son Heung-min was adjudged to have been offside by the finest of margins.

This prompted an angry response from Lineker, who has claimed the way that VAR is being utilised is 'crap'.

"Even though it’s worked for Leicester City today, the way VAR is being used is crap. Could and should benefit the game but at present it’s sucking the life out of it," Lineker posted on his official Twitter account.

Lineker is clearly not just talking about that decision in isolation and rather the way that VAR has forever changed the way we celebrate goals.

But when you look at today's game in isolation, you have to say that the decisions were correct on Saturday afternoon.

How VAR will work in the Premier League

From a flow of the game perspective, though, football has changed.
