Gary Lineker names Leeds United star among England's best talents

Gary Lineker listed no fewer than 19 names when running through England's reasons to be cheerful about their future under Gareth Southgate.

And one of them plays in the Championship.

Former England forward and current BBC Match of the Day host Lineker is never slow to laud his nation's footballers when they are performing well, as they have been a lot recently.

Southgate's men scored five goals in a game for the second time in four days as they recovered from a goal down to beat Montenegro 5-1 in Podgorica on Monday night, taking control of their Euro 2020 qualifying group as they did so.

Callum Hudson-Odoi reveals what England teammates said to him after racist abuse

A brace from Ross Barkley and strikes from Michael Keane, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling did the trick for the Three Lions, and Kane and Sterling were singled out by Lineker as two of the players England can be confident that they can build around.

In a tweet sent almost right on the full-time whistle, Lineker wrote: "England are good. Will be better. Some have been around for a while...Sterling, Kane, Stones, Maguire, Walker, Trippier, Rashford....then there’s Alexander-Arnold, Foden, Hudson-Odoi, Gomez, Sancho, Rice, Nelson, Longstaff, Gibbs-White, Clarke, Chilwell, Greenwood. I could go on."

And while 18 of the 19 names are top-flight players, it was the inclusion of Leeds United winger Jack Clarke that drew the most attention.

Raheem Sterling's perfect response to being racially abused by Montenegro fans

The 18-year-old only made his professional debut in October, and has yet to be capped by any England youth sides.

But his displays for Marcelo Bielsa's side have turned heads, and Lineker is clearly a big fan to be including him in such illustrious company.
