Gary Lineker hailed Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud following the 1-0 win over Norwich City in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Giroud's goal was the difference in a key Premier League game for third-placed Chelsea as the club maintained their position above Leicester City and Manchester United in the table.
The French World Cup winner has struggled for game-time this season and had been linked with a departure from the club this summer.
But Lineker took the opportunity post-match to heap praise on the 33-year-old, who he feels is 'underrated'.
Lineker tweeted: "I’ve always felt that @_OlivierGiroud_is underrated.
"Excellent all-round centre-forward’s game. Hold up play, movement in the box, finishing is all top class. Might lack a yard of pace of the greats, but doesn’t get the credit he deserves."
Giroud himself spoke post-match about the contest and how crucial the three points were for Chelsea.
"We needed to be patient and to play our game and to move the ball quickly. We played against a team with a deep block," Giroud told Sky Sports.
"We should have scored more goals but we needed the win so we are happy."
Giroud will be staying at Chelsea this summer despite speculation about his future after he signed a one-year extension back in May which will keep him at the club until next summer.
