Gary Lineker makes huge claim about Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold after West Ham performance

Gary Lineker believes Trent Alexander-Arnold has what it takes to become one of the "country’s greatest ever players".

Alexander-Arnold has been one of Liverpool’s standout stars this season and equalled a Premier League assists record for a single campaign against West Ham on Monday night.

The 21-year-old provided the assist for Georginio Wijnaldum's opening goal at Anfield and was also the provider for Sadio Mane's winner, after the Hammers took a surprising lead in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.

Those contributions saw the West Derby-born Reds Academy graduate equal the Premier League assists record for a defender in a single season after matching the record-breaking number of 12 he set last year.

Sky Sports pair Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were full of praise for the England international afterwards and now Lineker has followed suit.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “Said it for a long time, he’s gonna be one of this country’s greatest ever players.”

Victory over David Moyes’ side on Monday night saw Jurgen Klopp's men's restore their 22-point cushion at the summit and move the Reds one step closer to Premier League glory.

Klopp’s side have now won 18 successive Premier League games dating back to October's 1-1 draw with Manchester United and are just 12 points away from securing their first league title in 30-years.
