Gary Lineker makes bold prediction about Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold

Gary Lineker has made the bold claim that Trent Alexander-Arnold will go on to be captain for both club and country.

Liverpool posted a video on Twitter of their 20-year-old full-back talking about his ambitions at the club.

The post said: "Born in Liverpool. Raised in Liverpool. Plays for Liverpool... one day dreams of leading Liverpool."

BT Sport and Match of the Day presenter, and former England captain Lineker is known to be a keen admirer of the youngster.

Posting on his own Twitter account about the video, Lineker said: "Will captain @LFC and his country."

Alexander-Arnold's star has been constantly rising since making his debut for the Reds back in 2016.

Under manager Jurgen Klopp's guidance, the Liverpool academy graduate has become a permanent fixture in the first team, and is now set to appear in a second successive Champions League final.

In addition, Alexander-Arnold was called up to England's squad for the 2018 World Cup, and already has one goal and five caps to his name.

Speaking on the official Liverpool video, Alexander-Arnold said: "I always wanted to become a Liverpool player.

"The aim is to one day become the Liverpool captain, and I've got that self-belief in myself that I can do it and hopefully I'll be able to do that."

Alexander-Arnold played a key role in Liverpool's stunning comeback against Barcelona in midweek, as they sealed their path to the Champions League final.

With the scores level at 3-3 on aggregate, he showed great cunning to deliver a quick corner for teammate Divock Origi to grab the winner, catching Barca players unaware in the process.

Premier League predictions: Robbie Savage makes Man City and Liverpool title tip

Lineker has previously hailed Alexander-Arnold's talent on the ball, and even suggested the England star could make an accomplished midfielder.

For Alexander-Arnold though, he is just happy just to be in the team.

He added: "I was born in Liverpool and I've always loved Liverpool.

"It's so good and so proud for me to be able to say that I'm a Liverpool player."
