Gary Lineker loved what every Arsenal player did minutes before the Olympiacos game started

Gary Lineker has taken to social media after Arsenal's players were spotted making a kind-hearted gesture to a mascot before the Europa League tie against Olympiacos.

With the first leg of the last-32 match minutes from kicking off on Thursday evening, the Gunners made one young fan's day.

As the teams went for their traditional pre-match handshakes, the mascots left the pitch. Or they were supposed to, at least.

One young fan stayed on the field, seemingly unaware of what where he was supposed to go.

But the Arsenal team leapt into action, encouraging the youngster to join them for their official team photo ahead of the game.

The youngster's arrival left big smiles on the faces of Joe Willock, Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi, before the mascot eventually made his way off the pitch and the game could finally get underway.

The gesture prompted Match of the Day presenter Lineker to post on Twitter the next day.

Lineker shared the video, with a simple caption of: 'Lovely'.

Arsenal were eventual 1-0 winners over Olympiacos, with Alexandre Lacazette's goal sealing a slender advantage ahead of the second leg of the last-32 tie.

Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta admitted he was pleased with the way his side recovered from a poor start to the game.

"It’s tough to come to a stadium like this away in Europe and come away with a win," he told reporters.

"There are a few lessons within that game for us, and some great things for our development as well as a team. The first 10, 15 minutes we suffered because we did not do the things that we talked about and the execution on the simple things was poor.

"We had the situations to break them and run after them and we kept giving simple balls away.

"In many moments it did not allow us to have the continuity to travel with the ball and play in the opposition half more."
