Gary Lineker in self-isolation after son George develops coronavirus symptoms

Gary Lineker has confirmed he is entering self-isolation after spending time with his eldest son, who is showing symptoms of coronavirus.

The Match of the Day host told his Twitter followers on Monday that George Lineker had lost all sense of taste and smell.

Former England international Gary is now self-isolating as a precaution after George spent time at his father's home this week.

"In self-isolation as George Lineker has symptoms," Lineker Sr posted.

"They're not the regular ones, but complete loss of sense of taste and smell. Odd these have not been pointed out much.

"Been nearly a week and has spent time at mine. I've been vigilant, handwashing/distancing but isolation it is."

In a follow-up tweet, Lineker said: "Worth being careful if you lose your sense of taste and smell. You could unknowingly have the virus.

"I checked all this with a doctor before sharing the information. Stay safe."
