Gary Lineker heartbroken as beloved dog Snoop dies

Gary Lineker has been left heartbroken following the death of his beloved dog Snoop.

The footballer-turned-telly star, 58, posted a picture of his yellow Labrador online and shared his devastation over the loss.

He tweeted: "Profoundly saddened to tell you that my beloved dog, Snoop, passed away last night.

"He was my friend, my companion, my boy. Whether I left the house for 2 weeks, 2 days or 2 minutes he would greet me with equal measure of enthusiasm and love.

"I’ll miss him greatly. RIP Snoop."

The footie pundit was overwhelmed with messages of sympathy from fans, who agreed that losing a much-loved dog is utterly heartbreaking.

One wrote: "Take care Gary. Losing a pet is something which I can understand because I’ve gone through the same unfortunate situation. We’re all with you!."

Another added: "That’s so sad. Losing a dog, or any other animal that’s been with you for so long, can be really heartbreaking. Take care Gary."

A third tweeted: "That's tough Gary, sorry to hear that, and for your loss.."

Others encouraged Gary to heal his broken heart by adopting a rescue dog to give another pooch the chance to get a forever home.

One wrote: "The worst part of having a pet ... very sad, for him, and you. I hope you soon feel able and want to get a new pet.

"Not to forget or replace Snoop, but just to have another fine, engaging and affecting happy mutt!"

Another replied: "If anything it's in honour of Snoop and any prior pets. Giving a loving home to another animal."
