Gary Lineker felt Newcastle United landed a 'very good point' against Tottenham Hotspur, although his Match of the Day colleague Alan Shearer felt the defending from both sides left a lot to be desired.
The Magpies secured a 2-2 draw thanks to Joe Willock's late equaliser from close range after the side had spent most of the game 2-1 down.
Joelinton had given Newcastle the lead before Harry Kane's quickfire double just past the 30-minute mark, which increased fears that the Magpies' poor run of form would continue.
Yet they bounced back to take a point that moves them three points clear of the relegation zone.
Posting on Twitter post-match, Lineker said the draw was a good one for Newcastle and praised Willock's contribution off the bench.
"Very good point from Newcastle," he said. "Where there's a Willock there's a way."
Yet Magpies legend Shearer was unimpressed with the defending from both sides, with Joelinton's opening goal coming from a defensive mistake before Kane conceded two in just four minutes.
"Defending from both sides is," he said, followed by a rude emoji.
Post-match, Shearer added to his thoughts, and said that he felt Newcastle had put in a much better performance than their last game, which was a disappointing defeat to relegation rivals Brighton before the international break.
"A point was the least Newcastle deserved," he said. "A much better performance.
"Joelinton had his best game in a black and white shirt. Well done Joe Willock."
The Magpies next face Burnley on Sunday before a tough run of games against West Ham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester City.
Newcastle then round the season off with six-pointers against Sheffield United and Fulham,
