Gary Lineker gives Leeds United the Match of the Day approval during Arsenal FA Cup clash

Gary Lineker believes Leeds United looked like the Premier League team in the opening stages of their FA Cup clash against Arsenal.

The two are currently in action at the Emirates Stadium with the winner set to face a trip to Premier League Bournemouth.

But despite the Whites currently plying their trade in the Championship, they started the brighter of the two in north London, and went close to opening the scoring on a number of occasions, including a Patrick Bamford shot against the bar.

As a result of Leeds’ fine start, Lineker, presenting live from the Emirates for the BBC, took to Twitter to praise the Whites.

He wrote: "If you didn’t know which the Premier League team was, you could be forgiven for thinking it was @LUFC."

A host of fans then agreed with the former Everton and Tottenham forward on the social media site.

Should the Whites prevail against Mikel Arteta’s side then they would take on the Cherries on the weekend of Friday 24 to Monday 27 January at the Vitality Stadium.
