Gary Lineker fuming after latest VAR farce following Dele Alli's goal for Spurs against Watford

Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has reacted to the latest VAR farce during the 2019/20 Premier League season in the clash between Tottenham and Watford.

Spurs were looking to get back to winning ways at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and taste a victory for the first time since last month at home to Southampton.

However, Abdoulaye Doucoure gave Watford the lead in the sixth minute before Tottenham struggled mightily to break the deadlock themselves.

But Spurs dominated the game throughout in terms of possession and chances and eventually they hit back in the 86th minute thanks to Dele Alli's equaliser.

Alli's goal did not come without controversy, though, as Hornets keeper Ben Foster flapped at a cross, with Alli controlling with his shoulder before turning the ball into the net.

The video assistant referee was consulted and decided the goal was correctly awarded, only for the big screen to indicate that the decision was a 'no goal'.

Confusion ensued before it was confirmed that the goal was valid, with Tottenham eventually drawing the match 1-1.

There have been an array of debatable decisions this season and moments of confusion surrounding VAR, with Spurs' 2-1 defeat at Leicester City earlier this term enduring it's fair share of VAR controversy.

Lineker was furious back then and this afternoon he again voiced his concern at the use of the new technology.

"VAR really doesn't like goals. Thought it would mean more goals with penalties being given, but thus far that has not proved to be the case. Seems to be a concerted effort to find something to rule out goals. Really strange," Lineker tweeted.

It's safe to say this is not the last we will hear about VAR.
