Gary Lineker explains 'cringe' Barcelona celebration to Liverpool fans - and makes no apologies

Gary Lineker has sent a message to Liverpool fans after a video of his celebrations following Lionel Messi's pinpoint free-kick went viral.

The BT Sport host wildly celebrated with Rio Ferdinand after the Barca talisman scored his 600th goal for the Catalan giants.

Many Liverpool fans felt it was unprofessional behaviour from the former England players.

And the ex-Everton and Leicester City striker took to social media to respond.

Lineker wrote: "Seem to have upset a few LFC fans by celebrating greatness last night.

"Admittedly it was a bit cringe, but as a former player who loves Barcelona I make no apologies for dancing to the diminutive Dios."

The Champions League semi-final clash ended in a 3-0 defeat for Jurgen Klopp's team.

Barcelona will travel to Merseyside on Tuesday to take on Liverpool at Anfield in the second leg.
