Gary Lineker blasts 'classless' England fans for booing rival anthems at Wembley

One of England's most famous legends has made a passionate plea to supporters who will be attending the final of Euro 2020 this Sunday.

The Three Lions take on Italy in the showpiece event at Wembley, with 60,000 people expected to attend and millions more watching around the world.

It should be an evening to remember but Gary Lineker has urged supporters to respect the national anthems after England fans booed the Danish anthem before the semi-final clash on Wednesday night.

Lineker made reference to ITV's huge viewing figures for the game, tweeting: "Over 26 million watched @England 's meritorious victory last night on @itvfootball.

"Huge numbers again. The final will be off the chart. Look forward to you joining us on @BBCOne on Sunday"

Former England striker Gary then pleaded with fans about their behaviour for the historic game, the first major final England have reached since they won the World Cup in 1966.

He wrote: "If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket for the final, please, please don’t boo the Italian anthem. A/ It’s an absolute belter and worth listening to. B/ It’s bloody rude, disrespectful and utterly classless."

Former GMB host Piers Morgan was quick to agree with Gary, posting: "Totally agree. Let’s be classy & respectful, England fans - the world will be watching."
