Gary Lineker is once again the BBC’s top earner, according to new figures, but he is taking a pay cut.
The Match Of The Day host took £1.75million in the period until the end of March this year – before any cut – according to figures published in the corporation’s annual report.
Zoe Ball is second on the list, with £1.3m, followed by Graham Norton on around £725,000.
The top 10 also includes Steve Wright, Huw Edwards, Fiona Bruce, Vanessa Feltz, Lauren Laverne, Stephen Nolan and Alan Shearer.
Lineker has also signed a new five-year contract with the BBC which involves a 23% pay reduction.
He said: “I love working with the BBC, and am very proud to continue to be a part of their outstanding football team. I’m looking forward to the next five years – with a European Championship and World Cup on the horizon, it’s exciting times for me and the team.”
Following the announcement, made as the BBC unveiled its annual report, Lineker tweeted: “Oh dear. Thoughts are with the haters at this difficult time.”
Lineker earned £1.75m in 2019/20, meaning a 23% reduction would take this figure to around £1.35m – just below the £1.36m that Ball earned in 2019/20.
