Gary Lineker and Gary Neville hail 'sensational' Mason Greenwood after Aston Villa goal for Manchester United

Gary Lineker and Gary Neville have both hailed the finishing technique of Mason Greenwood after he scored against Aston Villa.

The Manchester United forward put his side 2-0 up at Villa Park with a thunderous strike from the edge of the box on the stroke of half-time.

The 18-year-old was named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI for the fifth consecutive league fixture against Dean Smith’s side.

His strike took his total for the season to 16 in all competitions and Lineker took to Twitter in the immediate aftermath of the goal to praise the finish.

He wrote: “Goodness me, @masongreenwood can finish.”

While Neville said during his Sky Sports commentary: “He is some player, that boy. Martial does brilliantly.

“I actually think when it comes to Greenwood here, what’s he doing? Go for yourself the first time.

“He plays it inside to Martial and he gives it to him back. Then it’s on his right foot. Can he hit it on his right foot? Yes he can.

“He’s a real talent, who is now delivering week-in, week-out. What a goal. Power, sensational.”

Speaking in an interview with MUTV before the game, Greenwood highlighted he is yet to score with his head for the first team, something he aims to change during the rest of the season.

He said "Everyone can improve - I don't think there is a limit really. My main focus to improve is headed goals.

"I've not scored a headed goal in the first-team yet this season so hopefully it will be nice to get one of them.

"I've scored a few in the youth team but obviously everyone can improve, I can improve myself and I'm not anywhere near where I want to be at this time so there is a lot of work to be done."
