Gary Lineker agrees with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel over Mason Mount

Thomas Tuchel and Gary Lineker both share high opinions of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.

Mount was a favourite under former boss Frank Lampard and might have feared his playtime was about to be reduced after he was left out of Tuchel's first game in charge.

But he returned to the lineup for the German boss' second game, impressing as Chelsea pulled off a 2-0 win over Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

And the England international clearly made an impression on Tuchel.

"What I’ve seen from the outside and what I’ve seen on the inside, he is 100% all the time," he said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Tottenham clash.

"He cares a lot about Chelsea, he cares a lot about his teammates, he is leaving his heart on the pitch.

“If you train with Mason, if you play with Mason, you can be sure he gives 100% every minute and this is the best level to grow. It's the best situation to start and the best situation to become a top, top player.

“He has everything needed to reach higher and higher levels. I don't know where his limits are but right now we will push him and support him.

“The most important thing is that it comes from inside of him. What makes me very happy is he is a nice guy, a totally open guy. He has a positive aura and energy in the dressing room and it's a real pleasure to work with the whole team and Mason."

Tuchel is not the only one who rates Mount, who has attracted plenty of praise for his performances both this season and last.

Mount has scored three times this season, assisting six, and after he scored to see off Fulham in January, former Spurs striker turned Match of the Day presenter Lineker praised the midfielder.

He said: "For all their signings and money spent, for me, he’s their best player. Great technically, fantastic energy and work rate, really consistent, can play in multiple positions and scores goals."

Big praise indeed for the 22-year-old who is already well on his way to nailing down a spot in Tuchel's starting XI.
