Gary Hooper set for Indian adventure as former Celtic man agrees Kerala Blasters deal

Celtic hero Gary Hooper is expected to sign a one-year deal with Indian Super League giants Kerala Blasters.

The 32-year-old spent last season at Wellington Phoenix and notched eight goals in 21 appearances for the A-League outfit.

Hooper’s deal with the New Zealand-based outfit expired earlier this month and the striker had several options to return to the U.K.

However, reports in the sub-continent have confirmed that the ex-Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City marksman has decided to continue his adventures abroad.

Hooper, who rippled the net 82 times in three years for the Bhoys, also attracted interest from Bengaluru and Chennaiyin - managed by Owen Coyle last term - but has opted for Kerala.

The Englishman left Celtic for Norwich in a £5million deal in 2013.

Hooper struggled to impress in Norfolk but hit 31 goals in 89 games for Sheffield Wednesday despite struggling with injury.

His move to the A League brought eight strikes in 21 appearances but it now appears he will continue his career in India.

The Super League was founded in 2013 to try and grow football in India, and the likes of Robert Pires, Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Materazzi have played in the division.
