Gary Holt blasts 'cheating' Scott Allan as he calls for Hibs star to be banned

Gary Holt branded Scott Allan a cheat and demanded he be banned for diving to win the penalty that hauled Hibs back into the game against Livingston on Wednesday night.

The Livingston boss accused the midfielder of conning referee Gavin Duncan during a second-half flashpoint by throwing himself down inside the box with Lions pair Marvin Bartley and Hakeem Odoffin only in close proximity.

Allan then scored the spot-kick before Hibs went on to level 2-2.

But Holt insists footage of the incident backs his belief the
SFA should punish Allan in the same way Jordan Jones received
a two-match ban following a case of simulation against Dundee
last October while he was playing for Kilmarnock.

The Lions gaffer said: “I’ve watched the penalty incident again and to me it’s a clear case
of simulation.

“You can use cheating, a dive or whatever words you like to describe what that was.

“From my viewpoint, I didn’t know whether if Marvin or Hakeem had caught him.

“I’m thinking, ‘was there a touch?’ But Marv was adamant no-one laid a foot, a glove or a breath near him.

“It’s very disappointing and leaves a sour taste.

“It’s Allan’s simulation which has proved a turning point in a game where we were leading 2-0.

“We are all under
pressure as managers in this league and we are battling to stay in this league so the referee has to get these things right.

“’I’m not going to
say ‘no, it’s fine’ because it hurts.

“It hurts the players. They all feel cheated. It’s a strong word but that’s what it is. I don’t like talking about other teams’ players but when an incident has that much effect
on the game then someone needs to look at it.

“There was the case when Jordan Jones received a retrospective ban and was castigated for it and everyone frowned upon it.

“I think Jordan said he stubbed his foot or there was a little bit of contact, if I remember. However, only he knows – and this time, only Scott Allan knows.”
