Gary Caldwell is poised to join Manchester City as a loan team coach after leaving his interim role at Newcastle United.
The former Celtic and Scotland defender will be tasked with observing loan players at the English champions according to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope.
Caldwell has managerial experience with Wigan Athletic and Partick Thistle but he's ready for a new chapter with Pep Guardiola's side.
Caldwell spent three weeks as Newcastle United's under-23 boss after Chris Hogg departed to join MK Dons as assistant manager.
The 39-year-old started out at the Magpies as a youngster but never made a first-team appearance before enjoying a successful career in Scotland and England.
After leaving Newcastle, Caldwell thanked everybody at the club, adding: "Enjoyed immensely being back on the grass coaching at the club that gave me my start in football.
"Thank you to all the players and staff for making me feel so welcome..."
