Gary Beadle and Aaron Chalmers 'lucky' they're not abused like Love Island stars

Geordie Shore hunks Gary Beadle and Aaron Chalmers say they feel lucky that they're not abused by trolls the way Love Island stars are.

A host of people who've appeared on the ITV2 dating show have spoken out about the hate they've received on social media, including Molly-Mae Hague from the most recent series and Sophie Gradon, who tragically took her own life last year.

But after years of getting drunk and having sex in front of the cameras on MTV hit Geordie Shore , Gaz and Aaron say they've been lucky to avoid the scrutiny that some Love Island stars have endured.

Since leaving the show, Gaz, 31, has become a dad to little Chester, and is expecting another baby with his girlfriend Emma McVey, and Aaron, 32, has reinvented himself as a professional MMA fighter.

Now, they're going back to their reality roots on new show Geordie OGs, alongside Marnie Simpson and Holly Hagan.

Gary said when he originally joined the show in 2011, social media was nothing like it was today, and that only Facebook was around.

Aaron added to The Sun : "Now you come out of Love Island with 2million followers and you're getting abuse from every different direction - Twitter , Instagram , whereas as Gaz says, we didn't have all of that when we started."

Gary believes that the X-rated nature of Geordie Shore may have changed the response it had.

He said: "The thing is Geordie Shore isn't a really press story show. You'd never watch an episode of Geordie Shore and then see it on the front page on The Sun. It was never like that, maybe because it was so nuts."

He added: "I think we've been really lucky with Geordie Shore because I think it's so relatable - some people getting p***ed, that there wasn't that much negativity towards you. Like I said, it is totally totally different now compared to when we first started."
