Gary Barlow lands new job as cruise ship singer and fans can meet the Take That star

Gary Barlow, 48, has announced his latest job role and it will take him around the world.

The Take That star - who is celebrating 30 years with the British boy band this year - is going to be working on P&O cruises as a musical brand ambassador.

Fans of the Back For Good hitmaker will even have the opportunity to meet the former The X Factor judge if they are booked onto the cruise that will visit the Norwegian Fjords, Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands.

Gary announced the role on Instagram on Wednesday, as he shared: "He said: “I’m very pleased to announce that I'll be coming aboard P&O Cruises Iona this year as Musical Director!

“Here's to making more music and memories with you.”

He also posted a short video clip that saw him playing the piano which was met with a number of excited comments from his loyal fanbase.

One superfan gushed: "I love this video ! I love your hands, You're so beautiful ! I could hear you forever !!!! I love you."

"Wow amazing news and what a clip," and "Aye Aye Captain Barlow! Your GB Army crew are ready and waiting to help you board for this adventure! Xxx" offered others.

It is a solo venture for Gary and he will not be joined by bandmates Howard Donald and Mark Owen.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said of Gary's partnership with the brand: “We are immensely proud to have someone of Gary’s stature and talent working with us as brand ambassador and we look forward to revealing more exciting details on Gary’s role very soon.”

Other brand ambassadors for the cruise company include Blur guitarist Alex James, Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, and comic Rob Brydon.

Passengers can get cooking masterclasses with chef Marco Pierre White, master pâtissier Eric Lanlard and attend drinks events with wine expert Olly Smith.
