Two-time World Champion Gary Anderson is hoping his upcoming appearance in Motherwell will help kick-start his season.
Scottish number one Anderson withdrew from this season’s Premier League in order to treat a back injury after playing through the pain barrier last year.
Anderson – who won the World Matchplay, UK Open and Champions League in 2018 despite his injury troubles – is taking on Raymond van Barneveld at Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday, May 17, and is ready to return to the stage.
“I think this is the perfect event for me to come back,” said Anderson.
“I’ll have a great reception as always there and won’t be under any pressure.
“Barney is one of the best players in the world and it will be a good test for me to get my game going again in front of a big crowd.
“I’m rested, refreshed and ready to come back and there is no better place for me to do it in Scotland.
“I think the fans will be in for a treat when Barney and I go head to head.”
The pair, who have faced the oche together many times, played in Motherwell last year to a sell-out crowd.
And the event also gives darts fans the chance to meet the pair and get up close to the action while cheering on their favourite.
Preceding the darting dual between Anderson and five-time World Champion van Barneveld will be appearances from two of the sport’s greatest entertainers – Wayne Mardle and Bobby George.
There will also be a challenge match between Scottish ladies Lynn Cowan and Susanna McGimpsey.
