Tottenham would have lost against Southampton had it not been for Harry Kane.
That's the verdict of former Tottenham forward Garth Crooks, who has named the Spurs striker in his team of the week following the Premier League action over the weekend.
Kane netted the winner for ten-man Spurs on Saturday, scoring four minutes after Southampton had equalised through Danny Ings, after an awful mistake from Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
That came after Serge Aurier had been sent off for the hosts, but Kane's goal ensured that Spurs got back to winning ways, after a disappointing run of results in recent weeks.
And Crooks suggested that it would have been a different story, had it not been for Spurs having Kane on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"Spurs would have lost this game if it were not for the calmness of Kane. For large parts of the win against Southampton, Tottenham's performance descended into chaos," he said, as part of his weekly feature for the BBC website.
"Serge Aurier's game fell apart during 10 minutes of madness, followed by Hugo Lloris's peculiar rendition of the Cruyff turn on his own goalline. Really, have you ever seen anything like it?
"What Southampton made of all this I can only imagine. The sad thing for the Saints is that they could not take advantage of it. Thank goodness Spurs have Kane - one of the few players they can rely on in a crisis."
Kane's strike was his fifth in the Premier League in seven games this season, while it was his sixth of the campaign in all competitions for Spurs.
The 26-year-old also scored four goals for England last month.
