Garth Crooks forced into u-turn over Everton defender Kurt Zouma after applauding West Ham display

Everton produced an incredible performance against West Ham to come away with three points on Saturday.

The first-half was one to admire as the Blues scored twice through Kurt Zouma and Bernard in a period where they essentially blew the London side out of the water with beautiful one-touch football.

And it was more of the same in the second 45 minutes from Marco Silva 's side - a consistently terrorising threat going forward and sure at the back which resulted in a more than deserved 2-0 victory.

Everton verdict - Best display under Marco Silva as Blues show what they're capable of

During the match there was one Everton player who stood out above any other for BBC Sport columnist Garth Crooks - goalscorer Kurt Zouma.

Crooks included the defender in his team of the week and all but admitted he had all but done a u-turn on the Blues defending during the game at the London Stadium.

Everton boss Marco Silva explains why he was delighted with Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goalless West Ham display

"I've criticised Everton for their poor defending this season but I found myself applauding their clean sheet at London Stadium on Saturday.

"The Hammers could have been two goals down after 20 minutes and were lucky it wasn't more. Meanwhile, Kurt Zouma is starting to look like a defender who can be trusted.

"Zouma has won 68% of his aerial duels in the Premier League this season, the highest percentage of any Everton centre-back."
