Garth Crooks claims Thomas Partey's impact 'very worrying' for Arsenal's rivals

Thomas Partey's dominant display for Arsenal against Manchester United will be a worry to their rivals, according to Garth Crooks.

Among a number of impressive performers for the Gunners, Partey shone brightest in the middle of the park alongside Mohamed Elneny to stifle the threat of United's chief creator Bruno Fernandes.

Arsenal have flattered to deceive with their midfield options over several years but in Partey they appear to have signed the solution to their problems.

With five points separating the teams in the top half of the table, this season's Premier League title race could be one of its tight ever.

And Crooks believes Partey could be the difference-maker for Arsenal's hopes.

"That was some performance by Thomas Partey at Old Trafford," he told the BBC.

"The Ghana international looks fit, strong and up for any battle - while his ability to intercept and break up the opposition's play on Sunday was outstanding.

"Partey along with Mohamed Elneny, dominated Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

"I've not seen an Arsenal midfield duo dominate the centre of the park at Old Trafford so effectively since Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit.

"This is very worrying if you are a Spurs fan."

Arsenal face Molde next in the Europa League on Thursday with Partey likely to be rested ahead of Sunday's clash with Aston Villa.
