Garth Crooks accuses Solskjaer of 'careless' treatment towards Man United star Marcus Rashford

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been accused of an 'over-reliance' on Marcus Rashford, in a bizarre attack from BBC pundit Garth Crooks.

Solskjaer's side fell to a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday to leave them 10th in the Premier League after 11 games.

The game saw Rashford continue his run of starting in every league game for United so far, with a return of five goals and three assists.

But he failed to have any impact against Bournemouth as United struggled to respond to Josh King's first half goal that turned out to be the winning strike.

In his praise for King in his Team of the Week column on BBC Sport, Crooks launched a strange comparison with Rashford, accusing Solskjaer of being 'careless' in his use of the forward.

He wrote: "Manager Eddie Howe does not have to rely on [Callum] Wilson to produce the goods all the time for the Cherries and can occasionally rely on King, as was the case against United.

“It would appear, however, that there seems an over-reliance developing by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Marcus Rashford.

“Solskjaer needs to be reminded that Rashford is only 22 and Manchester United one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“To ask such a young man to carry so much responsibility, often on his own, is bordering on carelessness.”

Rashford recently passed 50 goals for United since making his debut in 2016 as an 18-year-old, making 185 appearances in that time.
