Garth Brooks to perform at Joe Biden inauguration

He’s got friends in high places.

Crossover country star Garth Brooks will perform at Joe Biden’s inauguration Wednesday. The “Friends in Low Places” singer announced his decision on Monday.

“This is not a political statement,” Brooks said in a statement. “This is statement of unity."

Brooks said Wednesday’s performance gives him an opportunity to serve his country once more. With the exception of Ronald Reagan, he has played for every president since Ronald Reagan.

“No matter who the president-elect is, it’s an honor to be asked,” Brooks said.

The 58-year-old Oklahoma native didn’t say which of his tunes he plans to play. New Yorkers Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga are also slated to perform at Wednesday’s historic event, which will not be attended by the outgoing president, who was impeached last week for inciting an attack on the U.S. Capitol meant to stop the Electoral College from certifying Biden’s electoral win.

Security at Biden’s swearing-in will be formidable as Trump loyalists continue to insist their candidate was somehow cheated out of the presidency.
