Garth Brooks in talks to play Croke Park in 2022 as outdoor gigs lined up

Normality is definitely returning - as we're about to see Garth Brooks stop off in Ireland for a couple of concerts.

Earlier this year, we brought you news that the country legend was one of four potential acts being lined up for the two Croke Park concerts in May of 2022.

Aiken Promotions are running the two shows on April 23 and April 24 and they were the Irish agents for Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran and Brooks.

All three are touring next year - but Virgin Media are now reporting it is the country singer who is in talks to appear.

They say that instead of the April dates, Brooks will play three nights in September in the GAA headquarters.

Of course, Brooks is known for one of the most infamous sagas in recent memory when he was previously lined up for a stint of shows here.

The incident in question scarred the country back in 2014, when Brooks was due to play five nights in Croke Park before withdrawing his appearances in dramatic circumstances after a row with Dublin City Council.

Over 400,000 refunds were issued – and thousands of cowboy hats went unsold – after Dublin City Council told the country singer he could only have three nights in Croke Park, rather than the planned five.

In response, the Oklahoma-born star insisted: five nights, or none at all.

Irish people, as we all know, have long memories when it comes to these types of incidents.

So we're sure there'll be great excitement if the plans are pulled off and Brooks takes to the stage in 2022.
