Garth Brooks: FIVE Croke Park concerts now confirmed after thousands join Ticketmaster queue

Garth Brooks will now play FIVE concerts in Croke Park after major demand for tickets.

The country music superstar had originally announced two gigs at the Dublin stadium for Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10, with thousands joining a Ticketmaster queue for tickets from 8am.

It wasn’t long before an extra show was added for Sunday, September 11 - and then another two on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17.

If comes seven years after the US musician controversially cancelled five concerts at GAA HQ.

More than 400,000 fans were left disappointed when the shows were cancelled due to a planning dispute.

Croke Park will be the only European venue headlined by the 'Friends in Low Places' singer in 2022.

Demand remains high for the golden tickets, which cost €65.50 for standing or €81 for seating, plus service charge.

It comes after Brooks jetted into Dublin on Monday to officially announce his two new dates for Croke Park next September.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the emotional star said: “We heard about two months ago it was possible… and we didn’t want to get our hopes up, so we just talked amongst each other.

“And even two weeks ago they still hadn’t voted or approved anything yet

“So then when we got the call that it was going to happen and we were going to come over here, I just didn’t want to be too giddy and then when you get to walk out on that stage, god, that will be awesome.”

Brooks said the press conference marked his first time in the country since the 2014 controversy - and admitted he has shied away in the past.

Swallowing back tears at the emotional event, he said: “No no no [never returned], and we haven’t even done a radio line or anything because the second that you would engage in it you knew what the question was going to be.

"So we just stayed quiet, and I thought we would stay quiet forever. I can’t believe the call came."

He added that playing to an Irish crowd will be “heaven” after the controversy in 2014, which he admits he was not prepared for.

The top-selling solo artist in US history said he had never experienced anything like the incident in his life or career, adding: “That is why I kept thinking, surely this is going to fix itself.

“Because the easy thing was ‘okay, if I understand what the complaint is, let’s get these done and make sure it never happens again because these people have already invested their time and stuff’."
