Garth Brooks Croke Park 2022: Country music star finally confirmed for Irish dates

International country music superstar Garth Brooks is confirmed to play two Irish gigs in 2022 after months of speculation.

The US musician will play the concerts in Dublin's Croke Park on September 9 and 10 next year.

Croke Park will be the only European venue headlined by the 'Friends in Low Places' singer in 2022.

In September, rumours began circulating that the country star could play several Irish shows next year.

Fans who were left bereft in 2014 after the singer infamously cancelled his five gigs could finally see him in the flesh in Dublin eight years later.

The incident in question scarred the country when Brooks was due to play five nights in Croke Park before withdrawing his appearances in dramatic circumstances after a row with Dublin City Council.

Over 400,000 refunds were issued – and thousands of cowboy hats went unsold – after Dublin City Council told the country singer he could only have three nights in Croke Park, rather than the planned five.

In response, the Oklahoma-born star insisted: five nights, or none at all.

It seems he has now compromised with two concerts in Ireland next year after Aiken Promotions confirmed the news on Thursday.

Tickets for the highly anticipated concerts next September will go on sale from Ticketmaster.ie on Thursday, November 25 at 8am.

It comes after residents and local businesses met with Croke Park bosses and Aiken Promotions representatives in September to discuss next year's potential five Garth Brooks concerts.

Dublin City Council had granted Brooks a licence for three September gigs but the singer then lodged an application for an additional two.

However, Irish fans will have to settle for just two opportunities to see the number one selling solo artist in US history live next year.
